Hosting an adult birthday party soon? If the birthday is for a man or woman of Scottish descent, a great choice for a birthday party theme is their Scottish heritage… particularly if they are very proud of their Scottish roots.
Oftentimes a Scottish themed party will include Celtic elements such as Celtic knots, crosses, and spirals and/or Scottish symbols such as clan tartans, the thistle, heraldic crest badges, and clan badges. There may be an emphasis on the Gaelic language as well. Furthermore, the party can also include Scottish music (bagpipes), mini Highland Games, haggis, kilts and other Scottish cultural traditions. As a party theme idea, it will be a lot of fun.
If you’re hosting a Scottish themed birthday, you’ll need Scottish birthday invitations. Invitation designs for a Scottish party often include Celtic knots, clan tartans, and thistles. As a designer, I enjoy creating designs that celebrate different cultures and keep their traditions alive.
Recently, I’ve started creating a line of Scottish clan tartan birthday invitations. The invitations shown below include the clan tartan and also have a certain elegant, traditional feel to them. They are a great choice for a later life Scottish birthday party for a man in particular, but they could also work for a proud Scottish woman’s birthday as well.
I’m planning on adding additional clan tartans as time goes on, but if you’re looking for a particular Scottish clan tartan invitation, please let me know. You can message me using the “ask the designer” link on the product pages of any of the invitations shown below.
Royal Stewart Tartan Birthday Invitation
From Wikipedia: “The Royal Stewart tartan is the best-known tartan of the royal House of Stewart (Stuart), and is also the personal tartan of Queen Elizabeth II. It is appropriate for all subjects of Elizabeth II to wear the Royal Stewart tartan, in much the same way that clansmen may wear the tartan of their clan chief.” While now considered somewhat of a universal tartan, this tartan is also one of the official tartans for the Stewart or Stuart clan. You can read more about the Stewart clan tartans here. If you’d like this design in the Old Stewart tartan, the Hunting Stewart tartan or the Dress Stewart tartan, please let me know and I can add it for you.
Campbell or Black Watch Tartan Birthday Invitation
The Black Watch (otherwise known as the “government sett”) is considered a universal tartan (can be worn by anyone), but is also the official tartan of Clan Campbell (also known as Hunting Munro and Hunting Grant). These clans all wear the Black Watch tartan because of their early involvement in the Black Watch military regiment. This is a great tartan for anyone of Scottish descent in the military, police or fire as well.
MacDonald Tartan Birthday Invitation
This MacDonald (McDonald) clan tartan invitation has a matching RSVP card available. However, if you’d prefer the RSVP to be included on the invitation, this can be done as well.
Clark Tartan Birthday Invitation
Thompson Tartan Birthday Invitation
This is the tartan of the Thompson or Thomson clan.
Scott Tartan Birthday Invitation
With any of the designs above, the wording can be personalized however you’d like. Note, there is wording on the front and back of the invitations, but if you’d prefer the wording only on the front of the invitation, that can often be accommodated depending on exactly what wording you’d like. Note: the birthday number may need to be reduced in size to make it work.
Also, these invitations can be personalized with any milestone birthday year. For example, this invitation design would work well for a 50th, 60th, 75th, 80th, 90th, etc birthday. It’s no problem at all to personalize them for these other years. In addition, if you’d like matching RSVP cards to go with any of the designs, it is not a problem at all for me to add that. Just let me know!
As mentioned, this is just a showcase of some of the tartan birthday invitation designs I’ve recently posted on Lemon Leaf Prints. These can be made with other tartan designs as well. There are much more Scottish clan tartans that you might want to use. Just let me know which tartan you’d like using the “ask the designer” link on the product page and I can post a version for you.
Note that any of the above designs would look great on the 120# uncoated accent opaque paper, the #110 white felt paper, or the cotton savoy paper. They would also be great for any other special occasion you’d like to use a Scottish theme for. Perhaps a retirement party? It’s easy for me to personalize them for any other special occasion for you.
Thanks so much for stopping by and if you have any questions or are interested in a custom design, please let me know.
