Deciding what to do for your birthday can often be a challenge. The same goes for if it falls on you to decide what to do in celebrating the birthday of a loved one—be it a significant other, a parent, friend or a sibling.
So I took the liberty of compiling this list of 10 things you could do on your birthday, or suggest to the celebrant, if the birthday in question is someone else’s.
There is just one catch to the list of ideas I am about to present to you.
They are all activities that can be considered fun, even though a more appropriate description would be ‘extreme fun.’ Read on to understand.
- Bungee Jump:
Unless you are afraid of heights, you definitely need to try this at some point in time. The adrenaline, the excitement, the fear, the pictures or preferably video (be sure to wear a Go-Pro helmet so you can watch the jump again and relive the moments again and again,) and more, are all the factors that make this an absolutely fantastic way to celebrate your birthday.
- Helicopter Ride:
This is essentially you being as free as a bird on your birthday, and observing the world and all its drama from up above. While at the same time observing all that is and can be beautiful about the world below, which often can only be appreciated from a vantage point in the skies.
If you have ever been high up in a tall building and been able to look down and into the distance, you would surely know how beautiful the view can be from up there. Being in a helicopter probably triples that view and its appreciation.
This is because of the ability of the chopper to cover large distances in next to no time, which obviously allows you to see more places.
This would probably even be so much more memorable if it would be your first time in a helicopter.
- Power Bike:
Is it any wonder why there are so many people out there on power bikes? Surely it can’t be hard to figure out. There certainly has to be something about being on such a powerful piece of machinery; being and feeling free, gliding through the wind, at such speeds, with so much power under your control.
So perhaps the moral of the ‘story’ in this case, is to take charge of your life on your birthday, given the amount of ‘power’ at your disposal. Power of course referring to your brain, your formal and informal education, your humanity, your family, and all other assets you have.
- Roller Coaster:
A roller coaster in my opinion is akin to the combination of a speed bike and a helicopter in one. A bike because of the speed at which it travels, and then a helicopter because of the being in the skies, while of course this would probably be a very low flying helicopter and obviously limited in the distance it travels. But it’s just an analogy. Nice, don’t you think?
Perhaps one fun, or perhaps not so fun thing about this helicopter cum speed motorbike ride is the high possibility of throwing up, and the spinning head, and all other symptoms people often experience when on a roller coaster, which is not necessarily a bad thing, as it can often provide an opportunity for you and any friends with you to laugh at yourself.
I have sadly have never been on one, but all the movies I have seen and all the people who have spoken about being on one absolutely loved it. Each and every time for that matter.
- Parachute from a Plane (or Building):
Well I did warn you this list for the most part, consists of doing ‘extremely’ fun things? Ha.
A plane parachute is similar to a bungee jump, only this time there is no snapping back up as you would on a bungee. So in a way that is a disadvantage. I say that because that snapping back up and then down again can often provide an extra thrill similar to the first jump.
While you don’t get that from a plane, you definitely get the advantage of extra height. Much higher as a matter of fact. Which obviously can quadruple the thrill. Which no doubt will make for an excellent birthday well spent.
- Comedy Show:
I am not sure there is a human being on planet earth who doesn’t like to laugh. And given the right comedian, ventriloquist, or any other similar live, stand-up show, there are few things that can be better than laughing. More so laughing continuously over a few hours, as only a comedian or such people can make you do.If it turns out to be a comic you have never seen before, all the more better.
So the message behind this might be for you to laugh your heart out on this awesome day. The day in which you were born. And if the question should arise as to why you should be in a laughing mood on your birthday? The answer can simply be because you are laughing away all the stress and strains out of your body, so you can feel refreshed enough to take on the challenges of modern living up ahead.
Those are just my ideas of course, but feel free to find any reason that suits you. But then again, you really do not need a reason to laugh.
- Paraglide:
Perhaps I was wrong in referring to being in a helicopter as being as free as a bird. You really and truly are a ‘bird’ when you are paragliding. There isn’t the noise of an engine, you are not encased in any metal frame, you have the wind in your face, with your ‘wings’ spread out beside you, while you guide them where you want to go. That really is as close as you can ever get to being as “free as a bird.”
Wouldn’t this be a great birthday gift to give to yourself, or a friend?
- Bumper Cars:
This is perhaps you being a kid again, and there can be absolutely nothing wrong with being or behaving like a kid on your birthday. With the way our world is structured, for the most part and for most people, it’s almost all about paying bill, bill, bills, and working at a job you hate, and a boss you hate or who gives you crap, and bla bla bla.
It is safe to say that a lot of people really won’t mind going back to the days when they were young and innocent and free of all the burdens of adulthood. I know I surely would love that.
Well, now you can, for a few hours on your birthday anyway, by riding in a bumper car.
- Scuba Dive:
Why not. I’ve been talking about being in the skies all through this article, perhaps a little dip in the water might do you some good. Perhaps you need it to ‘wash’ away the stress and strain of the past year before your birthday, so you can be renewed and refreshed for the ‘new year‘ up ahead. Of course not referring to a traditional calendar year, but a new year from the date of your birthday.
- Climb a Mountain:
Hopefully you will get to the top of whatever mountain you decide to climb. And when you get there, the feeling you should have is that you are on top of the world. And you very probably would be literally on top of the world. Plus, it would be your birthday.
So celebrate your birthday by being on top of the world, then go back down and conquer the, or your world below, for that is exactly what you were born into this world to do.
Well there you have it. My list of ’extremely fun’ things to do on your birthday.
In rounding up, if none of these birthday celebration ideas catches your fancy for whatever reason, surely you almost certainly must find something more suitable to your mood, situation, cash flow, and any other factor, in this fantastic and massive list of 101 things to do on your birthday.
