Looking for a unique baby shower idea? Does the mother-to-be love football or sports? Why not consider a football baby shower or a more general sports themed baby shower? This theme also works great if you’re thinking of having a co-ed baby shower. Dads these days are more and more involved with their baby’s lives, so why not get them involved in the baby shower? It gives them an excuse to socialize with friends after all. Planning a co-ed baby shower is a fun experience too.
I have created this post to share with you plenty of ideas for throwing your very own football or sports theme baby shower! This is great theme idea for a baby boy baby shower. Or, you can even use a football or sports theme for a gender reveal baby shower party (Team Blue versus Team Pink). It’s even a great idea for a baby girl too. Especially if mom-to-be loves football or sports!
Invitations for a Sports or Football Baby Shower:

Location and Party Decorations for a Football or Sports Themed Baby Shower:
If you’re having a co-ed baby shower, your football or sports theme baby shower likely will be held at a location where both guys and girls will feel comfortable. Since guys typically do not do the “baby shower” thing, it’s nice to have a spot where they can hang with other guys, drink beer or soft drinks, and of course, watch the game! You may want to choose a friends house or a sports bar location for your co-ed baby shower.
Decorating the football or sports theme shower is a lot of fun! First, decide what colors you want to use with your theme. If you are going with a football baby shower, you can select colors from your favorite team. Your paper plates, napkins, balloons, and plastic cutlery can all be purchased in your “team colors” to support the theme. For the tables, you can purchase football field plastic tablecloths like the one here: Game Day Football Tablecover Party Accessory.
If you like to DIY your table cloths, you can purchase green outdoor carpet from your local hardware store and cut to fit tables to make it look like real astro-turf.
Next you will want to create the back-drop for your baby shower by using banners and pennants. Football pennants can be purchased online, like the one here: Game Day Football Pennant Banner Party Accessory or you can easily create your own football pennants with colored construction paper (in your team colors), yarn or string, and some clip-art that you can print out on your computer.
DIY (do it yourself) Football Baby Shower Party Decorations:
If you look around on the internet you can find some really cute ideas online to make your own DIY football or sports party decorations, party favors and centerpieces. Make sure to look for ones from super bowl parties too because you can easily adapt them for baby showers. Here’s a really cute one that I found. This “goalpost” would make a great football or sports themed baby shower table centerpiece.

One of the best parts of a baby shower is the food, and a football or sports theme baby shower is no exception. Often, a sports theme baby shower is “co-ed” and we all know guys like to eat! Make sure your baby shower is a “touchdown” by setting the mood with the perfect food! Finger foods and “tailgate” foods (like those you would find at the football stadium) are easy ideas to bring your party theme together at the baby shower. If you do some searches on the internet, you can also find many great food ideas for a football or sports baby shower.
Here’s a few ideas that I found for foods to “tailgate” with at your party:
Get your “game on” with these delicious looking Mini Football Subs. Yum! Both guys and gals will love them! And they’re easy to make.

Who doesn’t love dessert? In addition to a football or sports theme cake (or cupcakes), I’ve found a couple of recipes below that look easy to make and would make a super cute sports or football theme baby shower even cuter!
