With the first day of Spring less than a month away, I thought it would be a great idea to focus this Design Challenge on an outdoor party theme that is suitable for warmer weather. There are many different themes that you could do when the weather gets warmer, but there is one theme that I hadn’t really concentrated on before. So, I’ve decided that a Fiesta Birthday Party Invitation Design Challenge would be perfect! You can have so much fun with this theme with the decorations, the food, and the activities. Here is a post to highlight some ideas along with some great invitations to invite everyone over for a fun birthday celebration!
Fiesta Party Decoration Ideas
*Hang up some fun fiesta banners. You could also use lots of bright colored green, orange, pink and blue streamers draped all over the party location.
*Cover your tables with brightly colored plastic table cloths. Also have complimenting bold colored plates and flatware.
*Using construction paper, you can make a banner for the walls or the table. Just staple them together to make it as long as you need, then just cut the paper about halfway up to create a fun fringe design. You can take spare pieces of fringe and glue it over the staples to hid them! Don’t forget to use some of the spare pieces of the fringe on the ends to hang your banner.
*Buy sombrero hats and decorate with them. Use them as centerpieces on your tables, or you could pin them on the wall for a fun backdrop.
*Use inflatable cactus’ all around the party area. You could even use live ones as table center pieces or as decorations.
Fiesta Party Food Ideas
*Set up a taco making station with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, guacamole, taco sauce, onions, salsa along with some hard taco shells and soft tortillas. You can have your meat already made keeping warm in a crock pot.
*Have a quesadilla station. You can use a panini press to make the quesadillas really fast. All you need is some precooked chicken and steak along with a few different types of cheeses, salsa, sour cream and soft tortillas.
*Tortilla chips and salsa.
*Fried cinnamon and sugar tortilla chips. Just take flour tortillas, cut into shapes or strips, then deep fry in vegetable oil until light brown. Take out and lay on paper towels to drain. While cooling, sprinkle your cinnamon and sugar mixture over the cooked pieces and serve!
Fiesta Party Activity Ideas
*Have a piñata stuffed with lots of yummy candy or prizes that the kids can hit with a stick or bat.
*Pin the tail on the donkey.
*Fill a jar with jellybeans and ask everyone to guess how many jellybeans are in the jar. The closest guess without going over determines the winner! Their prize for winning is the jar filled with the jellybeans.
*Have a music table set up with noise makers, tambourines, maracas and little guitars for the kids to make fun music!
