Welcome to Party Simplicity’s next design challenge: 60th Birthday Themed Plates!
Life is all about creating memories and holding onto the good ones. A 60th birthday is one of those life moments where you should celebrate, as it is an important milestone in one’s life!
Make a special someone’s day by giving them a custom plate for their birthday. Whether they hang it on the wall as home décor or use it everyday for their meals, it will be a gift to cherish!
There are many themes for designing or purchasing a decorative plate for a sixtieth birthday. Some folks may choose to add traditional candles, cake and balloons on the plate design, while others will take a more personal approach and incorporate items and colors that are favorites of the birthday man or woman.
A VERY popular color scheme is metallic in either silver or gold, or mixing the 2 together to create a two toned metallic plate! Bling Bling!
Here are some themes I think are especially fitting for a 60th Birthday plate design:
- candy images from the era
- newspaper articles/headlines from the era
- a cute or witty slogan “sixty and fabulous!”
- graphic of the year they were born in a cool font or typography layout
- photos of the birthday man or woman’s childhood or places they lived growing up
- signatures of all the birthday party guests on the plate
- memories of that person on the plate
The list can go on and on, but the main thing is to be creative. Make it personal, make it fun and maybe make it a tribute to their life. Whatever theme or design you choose, as long as you keep the 60th birthday guest of honor in mind while purchasing or designing it, you will create a great memory!

Our Designer’s 60th Birthday Plates
I got my start as a professional designer in the Video Game industry working for EA (Electronic Arts) designing User Interfaces and texture maps for video games. In 2009 I started my own store that was non game art called jfarrell12, as an outlet to get my own artwork into the world. From there my business has grown into 3 main shops (jfarrell12, Odd Lot Paperie, Paper_Robot) and a handful of smaller shops that keep my creative juices flowing and keep me busy! I absolutely love offbeat weddings and specialize in making custom invitations and wedding packages for brides who want to have a fantastic non traditional wedding. You can find my designs on Zazzle and now I am pleased to offer digital printables on Etsy as well!
