For 2013 wedding trends, brides will continue to forego tradition and become more and more creative and inspired with their weddings… 2013’s color palette and themes will continue to showcase their individuality!
Contemporary couples are now taking the initiative. No longer being bound by the confines of tradition, couples are letting their own personalities shine through in their weddings.
Wedding Colors for Spring 2013
Color direction for this year’s Spring 2013 Wedding season can be inspired by fashion trends as seen in the Spring 2013 Fashion Color Trends – Pantone Fashion Color Report.
This is a dynamic color palette of brights and neutrals that promises for unique and beautiful combinations.
Consider using this year’s colors in combinations that express your individual style. As you can see, you can choose a bright and vibrant wedding color palette or go with something more subdued. Weddings nowadays can be whatever you desire, so let your own likes and dislikes help you with your color palette choices.
2013 Wedding Color Trend – Green
Reminiscent of leaves, trees, and grass, green is predicted to be a major player in spring 2013 weddings. For good reason too, as it makes a great backdrop for many other hues.
There are a great many varieties of green to choose from, such as PANTONE Emerald, PANTONE Greyed Jade (which I call Mint) or a very nice color called PANTONE Tender Shoots (a lime or chartreuse green).
These colors are similar to many in our natural surroundings and range from dark to light. They can help set a natural earthy tone to your wedding. Adding one of these green tones with a more neutral white, linen, ivory, or champagne is a good way to go for an outdoor or even rustic wedding. Your wedding will feel very tranquil and peaceful.
Or, add a navy blue such as the one called PANTONE Monaco Blue below for a preppy, classic look.
2013 Wedding Color Trend – Purple
If you are more of an exotic bride or have a bit of mystery to your personality, you might consider choosing PANTONE African Violet purple as your color.
Purple is very rich and elegant… often the color of royalty, yet it is intriguing as well and can combine with many other colors. A lighter color like this PANTONE African Violet purple makes for a romantic, pretty wedding as well.
Purple, grey (such as PANTONE Alloy shown below) and ivory look beautiful and elegant together. Or, combine various shades of purple with white or ivory. You can also add pink or orange as an accent color.
2013 Wedding Color Trend – Yellow
Yellow, when not overused is cheerful and bright. Reminiscent of sunny days and bright flowers, it’s a warm, optimistic, happy, and hopeful color.
The yellow color spectrum also envelopes the color gold, which represents wealth and prosperity. The PANTONE Sunflower color shown here is similar to a gold with the addition of orange. PANTONE Lemon Zest yellow is a beautiful and sunny lemon yellow color.
These two yellow colors can combine with many other colors to form your perfect wedding palette. For example, PANTONE Lemon Zest Yellow and PANTONE Sunflower yellow would both look wonderful combined with PANTONE Monaco Blue, PANTONE Poppy Red, and PANTONE African Violet Purple. PANTONE Lemon Zest would be lovely with bright PANTONE Tender Shoots Green.
Yellow and grey has been a very popular wedding palette in recent years. As such, PANTONE Lemon Zest would look great with PANTONE Alloy.
2013 Wedding Color Trend – Red
It appears that fruit colors are popular this season (PANTONE Lemon Zest as an example) and with very good reason. Bright and colorful fruit are associated with feelings of happiness. PANTONE Poppy Red is reminiscent of not only poppies, but strawberries and raspberries.
PANTONE Poppy Red is an exciting, vibrant, passionate, and sensual shade. It makes a great accent color for your invitations, wedding decor, and wedding favors. You can choose to use it for your bridesmaid dresses as well. In many cultures, red symbolizes life and luck. Some dramatic and daring brides choose this color for their wedding dress and make a statement! This is the year for expressing yourself so why not!
Pair up red with PANTONE Alloy grey, PANTONE Tidal Wave, or PANTONE Monaco Blue. Or, pair it up with white or black and white. For a more unique theme, pair it with PANTONE Lemon Zest.
2013 Wedding Color Trend – Orange
Orange, as a color palette, symbolizes energy, sun, warmth and comfort. Think of sunrises and sunsets. Generally used in autumn weddings, there is no reason to not use it in the spring and summer if you love the color. This bold and daring color will pop in any palette and your wedding will be very memorable. PANTONE Vibrant Orange is a true, bright orange. PANTONE Nectarine leans a bit pink and could be thought of as a coral. Lightening orange brings us to a pale peach (PANTONE linen).
For a monochromatic orange palette, you can pair either PANTONE Nectarine or PANTONE Vibrant Orange with PANTONE Linen and a white or ivory. Orange can be paired with many other colors as well depending on your tastes. For a very sunny wedding, pair it with PANTONE Lemon Zest. For a preppy fresh look pair it with one of the PANTONE blues shown in this post. Pair it with PANTONE Tender Shoots green for a unique and cheerful look.
2013 Wedding Color Trend – Blue
If you are looking for more of a cool, tranquil color scheme, then blue could work for you. Blue is a classic, traditional color. It symbolizes truthfulness, nobleness, and faithfulness.
Pair PANTONE Dusk Blue with PANTONE Greyed Jade Mint green for a peaceful and calm, yet pretty color palette. Or, pair it with both of the seasons hottest neutrals (PANTONE Alloy Grey or PANTONE Tidal Foam). Or go bold by pairing PANTONE Nectarine with either or both PANTONE Dusk Blue and PANTONE Monaco Blue.
Have more of a classic theme going on? No worries. PANTONE Monaco Blue is the color for you. Classic and inviting, this fairly neutral color can be paired with any of the other seasons favorites for a uniquely inspired wedding.
2013 Wedding Color Trend – Neutrals
Neutral colors help balance any color palette. While they shouldn’t make up an entire color palette, as they would look too subdued and dull, they look great when other brighter colors are added as accent colors. Either PANTONE Alloy grey or PANTONE Tidal Foam would pair well with just about any of the colors included in PANTONE’s 2013 trend report.

please i want to use the colours gold, white and yellow for my wedding but i am finding it difficult in choosing the colour shades. please help
That’s probably going to depend a lot on what shade of gold you are thinking of using. Gold can vary quite a lot. Do you have an idea on the shade of gold you want to use?
For example, the gold in this color palette is more of an antique gold:

This palette here shows a more yellow gold:
